Ward Halloween Party

Tonight was our ward Halloween party, the kids went around the building, Trick or Treating in some of the rooms then after they had a nice pot luck dinner. There was a huge turnout, hardly an sitting room once everyone was in the cultural hall eating. It was nice for the kids, I still don't know anyone in our ward and I can't remember anyone's name that I have met. Oh well, I'll get it eventually.Luke wanted to be Batman again, and Jack doesn't get a choice yet (he just gets the hand me downs)
Trick or Treat
Jack called me "Mom Pirate Man" all night. I have some awesome purple tights on and Jess' old Air Force boots on but I couldn't fit my whole self in the picture.

Punkinaze '09

So it seems we have a new tradition, every October (that we are in Utah) we go to the Punkinaze with my cousin Jamie and her family, it is a corn maze along with these giant slides and they have trough full of corn seeds that the kids can dig in for candy (see bottom picture). From Right to Left: Jack, Luke and cousin Bailey and some random kids
Jack had no fear going head first down the 20 foot slide
Family picture in the corn
Hiding from "monsters"
Giddy up, see the trough in the background. The kids come home with corn in all sorts of places.

Fire Station Open House

Last Monday the boys went over to the North View Fire Department open house. With a donation of a canned food item the kids got to ride in the fire truck
They had hot dogs and drinks for $1 each plus free cookies. What better place to eat dinner than the fire station.
They didn't actually get to slide down the pole but playing on it was almost just as fun

Ten Years!!!

Yesterday was our tenth anniversary!!! I started the day waking up to a beautiful bouquet of roses on the counter that Jess had picked up on his way home from work the night before; then we all went to IHOP for a late breakfast. When we got home from IHOP, Jess surprised me with an anniversary band to compliment my wedding ring, I had been looking at them for a while but I had no idea he was going to get it for me. Later that day we took the kids to my moms then Jess took me out to dinner at http://www.cucina-toscana.com/, a very nice Italian restaurant in Salt Lake City. Jess had planned on taking a carriage ride through downtown but it was a bit too chilly last night and we didn't have warm coats so that will have to wait till another time. We had such a wonderful day, unfortunately we forgot the camera all day so you will just have to use your imaginations.

Random

Last week Luke had Pirate Day at school, the whole first grade dresses up as pirates and Pirate Pete comes to take them on a treasure hunt and teach them their Arrrr and their Grrrr sounds. This is the costume I made for Luke two years ago for Halloween, the vest fit a little tight but we made it work.

I was in the house the other day when I heard the water running and couldn't find the boys. I went out back and found them soaking wet, Luke still in his school clothes, pouring water down each others shirts.

Luke showed my his "new trick", as he turned the water off, put the hose in his mouth then turned the water back on till his cheeks burst. We've got quite the talent in our little family.

Saturday Morning Fun

Now that we are getting boxes unloaded, the boys have found all their games that have been boxed up for over a year. This morning we played Twister and Jenga, last night we played Dino Dominoes and Sequence.

1st Grade

Here is our Luke on his first day of school at Majestic Elementary. He was so excited to go to his new school and meet new friends. Her teachers name is Mrs. Butler, she is an older teacher; hopefully her many years of exerience work to Luke's favor.
